Your privacy & legal rights
Personal information gathered in the provision of psychological services is bound by the legal requirements of the National Privacy Principles from the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. All personal information gathered during the provision of psychological service will remain confidential and secure except when subpoenaed by court, when failure to disclose information would place you or another person at risk, mandatory reporting obligations or when you have given consent to discuss the material with another person.
Client files are securely kept and accessed only by the psychologist and authorised employees. All digital data is password protected. You may request to see the information on file and this request has to be made in writing. An appointment will then be made to clarify the information and a fee will be charged for administrative and consultation time.
