Psychologist Near Beulah Park
Seeking help is nothing to be ashamed about. Everybody goes through challenges and seeking help is not something to be ashamed of.
I am an experienced psychologist and family therapist who can provide help, support and guidance.
Hello, I’m Ros Yuen, a psychologist and family therapist serving the community around Beulah Park.
I hope to support you to achieve realistic and meaningful changes in your life if that is your desire. My primary aim is to interrupt the existing patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that maintain your distress and to introduce new skills so that you can move on in life effectively.
I have a deep interest in helping people heal from stress and trauma, to help them reduce anxiety, conquer depression and build life-giving relationships. It is urgent today to acquire the skills to create our own sense of contentment by seeking more control over our own thoughts and deeds and foregoing misguided attempts at controlling those things that are simply uncontrollable. In short, it is enough that we learn to surf the waves of the ocean without shifting the shoreline.
Primarily, I provide in-person services at my office, with the option of telehealth if needed. In the event of a mental health emergency, individuals will be directed to the SA Mental Health Triage Services at 131465 for immediate assistance.

Building momentum towards healthier, more resilient relationships with the aid of a mental health professional has the power to make a profound impact on your life’s direction.
Let’s embark on a journey to strengthen your relationship and enrich your life. Through tailored skills and strategies, I aim to empower you to navigate challenges effectively. My focus lies in fostering healthy couple and family dynamics, addressing your well-being.
Ups and downs are a common part of intimate relationships, giving rise to a range of challenges that may feel overwhelming to address independently.
Family connections are intricate, multifaceted, and rich with layers. When diverse perspectives, goals, behaviours, and interactions intersect, they can cause complex dynamics that might impede overall happiness and wellness.
Amidst the changes and growth within families, there’s a blend of positivity and adversity. Navigating the complexities of blended family dynamics requires a tailored and sensitive approach to address the distinct challenges they present
At first, being involved with a narcissist may feel thrilling and full of excitement. However, once their lack of genuine concern becomes apparent, these relationships can quickly sour, taking a turn for the worse.
The complexities faced by same-sex couples call for a thorough approach from a compassionate professional who comprehends their experiences.
Challenges like workplace intimidation or harassment can be incredibly daunting to navigate, given their intricate dynamics. Seeking professional support could prove pivotal in addressing and overcoming such issues.

Online consultations in the form of Zoom and Phone sessions are also available. I prefer to have met you once or twice for intake before commencing online consultations. Please be aware that some experiential interventions especially for couples are difficult to do.
Are there opportunities for rebates on session fees?
If you have Private Health Insurance with Extras covering Psychology services, you may be eligible to claim a rebate from your Health Fund. As policies and coverage levels vary among Funds, it’s advisable to verify directly with your Health Fund for details.
Medicare offers rebates for individuals, not couples, through a Mental Health Plan prescribed by your GP. This plan remains valid for 12 months, during which you can access up to 10 sessions. Initially, your GP may assign 6 sessions, with the possibility of an additional 4 sessions after a review consultation.
For additional information on available rebates, please refer to this link.

All our sessions are confidential. Psychologists are legally bound by confidentiality except when subpoenaed by court or when there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person or if mandated to report.
Psychologists are mandated reporters according to the Firearms Regulations 2017. This means we’re obligated to report any suspected firearm-related injuries or unsafe firearm situations.
Psychologists are mandated to report if they suspect on reasonable grounds that a child or young person is at risk of harm.
You can find more information on privacy and your legal rights here.
What can I anticipate during the initial appointment?
Your first step will be completing an intake form in the waiting area. In the initial session, you’ll have the floor to discuss your concerns, with my guidance to help clarify any implicit matters. This session also serves as an opportunity for you to get a sense of my interpersonal approach and decide if it suits your needs. Generally, the intake process extends over two sessions, and during the first, I aim to be a compassionate listener, fully attuned to your needs.
How does your cancellation policy work?
Our cancellation policy mandates a minimum of 48 business hours notice to facilitate scheduling adjustments for other clients. Cancellations made less than 48 business hours prior to the appointment or non-attendance will incur full fees. Further information on our cancellation policy can be found here.

The Gottman Method
Employing diverse strategies to address particular challenges ensures personalised support for individuals or couples. Among the methods I employ is the Gottman Method, known for its effectiveness in fostering healthier relationships.
When conducting couples therapy and marriage counselling, this approach prioritises three relationship profiles: the friendship profile, the conflict profile, and the shared meanings profile.
Interventions are customised to address the unique strengths and weaknesses of a couple’s relationship based on these profiles. Special attention is given to perpetual issues, solvable problems, and enhancing conflict resolution and communication skills.
Are you facing challenges with…?
Anger is a normal human emotion but becomes a problem when expressed in harmful ways.
Learning to understand your anger is an important step towards managing it. Learn your triggers, warning signs, and relevant coping mechanisms and strategies.
Continuous worry or intrusive thoughts that disrupt everyday functioning define ongoing anxiety. While experiencing occasional anxiety is natural, when it becomes prolonged or unmanageable, it surpasses regular responses to life’s challenges.
Compulsion can be serious as it can impair the way one functions in many areas.
If your behaviour or actions are worrying you or your loved ones and are negatively affecting your life, you may benefit from comprehensive treatment that is developed for your specific needs.
While it’s common to have moments of feeling down, depression involves enduring feelings of sadness. If left unchecked, persistent depression can develop into a debilitating mental health disorder.
Symptoms like decreased energy, lack of interest in previously enjoyable pursuits, or feelings of isolation may signal the need for assistance in addressing a depressive disorder.
Stress is often described as feeling tense and worried. Stress can be a brief occurrence that may be helpful in certain circumstances, despite being uncomfortable.
However, stress may become harmful and affect your ability to function well, requiring targeted strategies and coping methods.
The occurrence of highly frightening or threatening events can lead to psychological scars. Traumatic experiences wield considerable influence, often revealing themselves through physical, behavioural, emotional, or cognitive indicators linked to trauma-related concerns.
Obsessive thinking is commonly accompanied by repetitive actions or rituals intended to alleviate the anxiety associated with those thoughts. Seeking support from qualified and experienced professionals is often the most effective approach to tackling this complex issue.
Issues such as insecure attachment, dismissive-avoidant attachment, fearful-avoidant attachment, and anxious-preoccupied attachment typically warrant thorough professional intervention.
Educate yourself on insecure attachment patterns and adopt behaviours that promote secure attachment interactions.
