Your Local Erindale Psychologist
Asking for help is a courageous step. We all experience times of turbulence and disruption in our lives.
As a seasoned psychologist and family relationship therapist, I am here to offer my skills in providing help, support, and guidance.
Welcome, I’m Ros Yuen, a psychologist focusing on family therapy, conveniently located near Erindale.
I hope to support you to achieve realistic and meaningful changes in your life if that is your desire. My primary aim is to interrupt the existing patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that maintain your distress and to introduce new skills so that you can move on in life effectively.
My passion lies in helping individuals overcome stress and trauma, ease anxiety, defeat depression, and foster nourishing relationships. In today’s world, mastering the ability to cultivate inner peace by managing our thoughts and actions is crucial. It’s about embracing what we can influence while releasing the grip on what’s beyond our control—learning to navigate life’s currents without trying to alter its natural course.
My services primarily take place in-office, offering face-to-face sessions, with the flexibility of telehealth consultations when necessary. For mental health emergencies, individuals will be promptly referred to the SA Mental Health Triage Services by calling 131465.

Psychological Assistance
Nurturing a shift towards stronger, more enduring relationships alongside a mental health professional’s assistance may mark a significant turning point in your life journey.
Partnering with me means embarking on a transformative path towards a more fulfilling life. I’m dedicated to helping you cultivate essential skills and effective strategies tailored to improve your relationships. My focus areas include enhancing couple and family dynamics and ensuring holistic support along your journey.
It’s natural for intimate relationships to experience fluctuations, potentially leading to challenging issues that can be overwhelming to tackle alone.
Family relationships are complex, multi-dimensional, and layered. The combination of different views, objectives, behaviours, and actions has the potential to result in complicated dynamics that may hinder happiness and well-being.
Amidst the changes and growth within families, there’s a blend of positivity and adversity. Navigating the complexities of blended family dynamics requires a tailored and sensitive approach to address the distinct challenges they present
Relationships with narcissists can initially seem thrilling and enjoyable, but as genuine care diminishes, they can swiftly turn sour, revealing their detrimental nature.
Various factors unique to same-sex couples need a comprehensive approach from a skilled professional who understands their specific needs.
Issues in the working environment, such as intimidation or harassment, can be extremely difficult to cope with due to the complex nature of the situation. Professional support may make a significant difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you charge for your sessions?
The session fee for an individual is $240 for appointments from 8AM to 4PM. The fee for appointments later than 4PM is $265.
Couple consultations are $290 within regular hours and $315 for later appointments. Â
Family sessions are priced at $120 per person.
More information on fees and payment options is available ON THIS PAGE.
Do you provide consultations online?
Online consultations via Zoom and Phone sessions are part of my services. I do recommend an initial face-to-face meeting, ideally once or twice, before transitioning to online sessions. Please keep in mind that certain interventions, particularly those geared towards couples, may not translate as effectively to an online setting.
Are there any rebates offered for our session?
If your Private Health Insurance incorporates Psychology under Extras, there’s a possibility to claim rebates through your Health Fund. Given the varying policies and extents of coverage, it’s wise to consult your Health Fund directly to ascertain the applicable details.
Under Medicare, rebates are available for individuals, not couples, through a Mental Health Plan arranged by your GP. This plan is active for 12 months and entitles you to a maximum of 10 sessions. Your GP may allocate 6 sessions initially, with an option for 4 more sessions after a review consultation.
Find out more information on available rebates here.
Can we expect our sessions to be kept confidential?
Confidentiality is paramount in all our sessions. Psychologists are ethically and legally obligated to maintain confidentiality, except in specific situations such as a court subpoena or if there is a significant risk of harm to you or others, where mandated reporting is required.
Psychologists are mandated reporters according to the Firearms Regulations 2017. This means we’re obligated to report any suspected firearm-related injuries or unsafe firearm situations.
Psychologists are mandated to report if they suspect on reasonable grounds that a child or young person is at risk of harm.
You can find more information on privacy and your legal rights here.
What should I prepare for during our first appointment together?
Your first step will be completing an intake form in the waiting area. In the initial session, you’ll have the floor to discuss your concerns, with my guidance to help clarify any implicit matters. This session also serves as an opportunity for you to get a sense of my interpersonal approach and decide if it suits your needs. Generally, the intake process extends over two sessions, and during the first, I aim to be a compassionate listener, fully attuned to your needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy mandates a minimum of 48 business hours notice to facilitate scheduling adjustments for other clients. Cancellations made less than 48 business hours prior to the appointment or non-attendance will incur full fees. Further information on our cancellation policy can be found here.

Gottman Therapy
Recognising the importance of tailoring approaches to suit individual or couple needs, I integrate various techniques. One method I frequently use is the Gottman Method, renowned for its ability to address relationship issues effectively
This approach to couples therapy sessions and marriage counselling focuses on three profiles of relationships: the friendship profile, the conflict profile, and the shared meanings profile.
The interventions provided are personalised to target the specific strengths and weaknesses of a couple’s relationship within these profiles. Key areas of focus include addressing perpetual issues, resolving solvable problems, and improving conflict resolution and communication strategies.

Do you find it difficult to cope with…?
Anger is a normal human emotion but becomes a problem when expressed in harmful ways. Â
Learning to understand your anger is an important step towards managing it. Learn your triggers, warning signs, and relevant coping mechanisms and strategies.
Enduring distressing thoughts or excessive worry that hinders daily activities is indicative of ongoing anxiety. Although feeling anxious from time to time is common, when it persists or becomes unmanageable, it deviates from typical reactions to circumstances.
If your behaviour is causing distress for you or your loved ones and is interfering with your life, seeking specialised treatment tailored to your specific requirements can offer valuable assistance in addressing these concerns.
While everyone experiences occasional lows, depression entails persistent and overwhelming sadness. Prolonged depression can evolve into a debilitating mental health condition.
Experiencing symptoms like reduced energy, diminished interest in once-enjoyed activities, or a tendency to withdraw may indicate the need for assistance with managing a depressive disorder.
Stress is often associated with sensations of tension and apprehension, serving as a transient experience that may have adaptive qualities despite its discomfort. Nevertheless, when stress reaches harmful levels and starts to disrupt your capacity to function optimally, it demands focused strategies and coping mechanisms.
Experiencing something deeply frightening or threatening can result in psychological wounds. Traumatic events carry substantial consequences, manifesting in physical, behavioural, emotional, or cognitive signs and symptoms associated with trauma-related issues.
Obsessional thinking is often paired with repeated behaviour or ritual to reduce anxiety that accompanies the thinking.Â
This complex issue is often best dealt with through qualified and experienced professional support.
Issues such as insecure attachment, dismissive-avoidant attachment, fearful-avoidant attachment, and anxious-preoccupied attachment typically warrant thorough professional intervention.
Educate yourself on insecure attachment patterns and adopt behaviours that promote secure attachment interactions.
