Psychological Assistance
Fostering positive momentum towards healthier and more resilient relationships with the support of a mental health professional has the potential to be pivotal in your life.
Let’s embark on a journey to strengthen your relationship and enrich your life. Through tailored skills and strategies, I aim to empower you to navigate challenges effectively. My focus lies in fostering healthy couple and family dynamics, addressing your well-being.
Intimate relationships will inevitably face ups and downs. This can impact many facets and cause a variety of issues that may be difficult to deal with alone.
Within families, relationships weave together different viewpoints, goals, behaviours, and interactions. These combinations can create dynamics that, if left unaddressed, may undermine the collective happiness and well-being of the family unit.
Family transformations bring a mix of benefits and challenges. Blended families encounter specific obstacles demanding delicate and detailed support to overcome.
The early stages of a relationship with a narcissist might be exhilarating and joyful, but as their lack of authentic empathy becomes apparent, the dynamics can deteriorate rapidly, leading to challenging situations.
Same-sex couples may deal with various factors that can benefit from a comprehensive approach from a professional who understands.
Issues in the working environment, such as intimidation or harassment, can be extremely difficult to cope with due to the complex nature of the situation. Professional support may make a significant difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is your pricing structure for sessions?
Individual sessions are priced at $240 for appointments between 8AM and 4PM, and $265 for appointments after 4PM.
Couple consultations are $290 within regular hours and $315 for later appointments.
The fee for a family session is $120 per person.
Further details on fees and payment options can be found HERE.
Are online consultations available?
Online consultations via Zoom and Phone sessions are part of my services. I do recommend an initial face-to-face meeting, ideally once or twice, before transitioning to online sessions. Please keep in mind that certain interventions, particularly those geared towards couples, may not translate as effectively to an online setting.
Are there opportunities for rebates on session fees?
If your Private Health Insurance incorporates Psychology under Extras, there’s a possibility to claim rebates through your Health Fund. Given the varying policies and extents of coverage, it’s wise to consult your Health Fund directly to ascertain the applicable details.
Under Medicare, rebates are available for individuals, not couples, through a Mental Health Plan arranged by your GP. This plan is active for 12 months and entitles you to a maximum of 10 sessions. Your GP may allocate 6 sessions initially, with an option for 4 more sessions after a review consultation.
For additional information on available rebates, please refer to this link.
Will our sessions remain confidential?
Rest assured, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our sessions. Psychologists adhere to strict ethical and legal guidelines that protect your privacy, except under circumstances such as a court order or if there is a credible threat of harm to yourself or others, requiring mandated reporting.
Psychologists are mandated reporters under the Firearms Regulations 2017. We are required to report suspected firearm injuries or any unsafe situations with firearms.
Psychologists are mandated to report if they suspect on reasonable grounds that a child or young person is at risk of harm.
You can find more information on privacy and your legal rights here.
What is typically involved in the first session?
Upon arrival, you’ll be requested to fill out an intake form in the waiting room. During the first session, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your concerns while I offer gentle guidance to help discuss any issues. You’ll also have a chance to assess my interpersonal style and determine if it aligns with your preferences. Typically, the intake process spans two sessions, and in the initial session, my goal is to provide attentive listening and support.
How does your cancellation policy work?
We require a minimum of 48 business hours notice so that cancelled appointments can be offered to those on the waiting list. If cancellation occurs less than 48 business hours before the appointment and in the case of non-attendance, full fees will be charged. You can read more on our cancellation policy here.

The Gottman Method
Employing diverse strategies to address particular challenges ensures personalised support for individuals or couples. Among the methods I employ is the Gottman Method, known for its effectiveness in fostering healthier relationships.
In couples therapy and marriage counselling, this approach emphasises three relationship profiles: the friendship profile, the conflict profile, and the shared meanings profile.
The interventions provided are personalised to target the specific strengths and weaknesses of a couple’s relationship within these profiles. Key areas of focus include addressing perpetual issues, resolving solvable problems, and improving conflict resolution and communication strategies.
Do you struggle with…?
While anger is a natural human emotion, it can become problematic when expressed destructively. Understanding your anger is key to its management. Identify triggers, recognise warning signs, and adopt effective coping strategies.
Ongoing worry or thoughts that are distressing and that interfere with daily living.
Feeling anxious is part of being human, but when it becomes sustained or reaches unmanageable levels, anxiety is no longer a normal response to certain situations.
Compulsions carry significant weight as they can disrupt various aspects of functioning.
If your actions cause concern for yourself or those close to you and impact your life negatively, seeking tailored treatment can be beneficial for addressing your unique needs.
The seriousness of compulsions lies in their potential to disrupt multiple areas of functioning.
While it’s common to have moments of feeling down, depression involves enduring feelings of sadness. If left unchecked, persistent depression can develop into a debilitating mental health disorder.
If you are dealing with symptoms such as low energy levels, decreased interest in your usual passions, or a sense of withdrawal, you may require help for a depressive disorder.
Stress is commonly characterised by feelings of tension and worry, serving as a temporary response that can sometimes be beneficial, albeit uncomfortable. Nonetheless, when stress becomes detrimental and interferes with daily functioning, it necessitates specific strategies and coping mechanisms.
The occurrence of highly frightening or threatening events can lead to psychological scars. Traumatic experiences wield considerable influence, often revealing themselves through physical, behavioural, emotional, or cognitive indicators linked to trauma-related concerns.
Obsessional thinking is frequently accompanied by repetitive behaviours or rituals aimed at easing the anxiety provoked by those thoughts. Dealing with this multifaceted issue typically requires the work of qualified and experienced professionals.
Challenges related to insecure attachment, dismissive-avoidant attachment, fearful-avoidant attachment, and anxious-preoccupied attachment typically call for extensive professional assistance.
