Rebates

Under Medicare you can recover a substantial rebate for psychological treatment which makes seeing a psychologist much more affordable. Ros has a Medicare Provider Number which means that she is eligible to participate in the Medicare initiative. Under the initiative, you can receive a substantial rebate for seeing a registered psychologist ($84.80 per session).

If you wish to claim a rebate under Medicare, you will need a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. Make an appointment. Make sure you bring to your first appointment the referral letter and Mental Health Plan so that you can claim the rebate. Once the Mental Health Care Plan has been raised, you are eligible for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year under the Plan.
